Many people produce songs through cheap speakers and completely fuck up the bass and low frequencies because they simply can hear them to their full measure. Sound quality for something like gaming is fine through speakers or headphones, as long as you can hear where footsteps originate from that’s fine, but when making music specifically it’s much better to buy a product that can play the music back to you at a quality level. If you absolutely must get something now, buy some second hand speakers off craigslist for $10-$20 and put the rest away until you can get some proper studio monitors. Studio monitors cost about on par with regular old speakers, at least where I’m from, but if you’re making music and that’s truely your goal, I’d honestly sit down and really consider if it’s worth spending $160 now or waiting a bit until you can get proper studio monitors.
